Which is the most important meal of the day?
If you’re reading this expecting to find the secret to meal timing or even for us to reveal if you eat breakfast you will increase your fat burning capability by 3000%, you’re going to be disappointed.
There are claims breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but if you are on an 1800kcal diet and decide to skip breakfast, but you make up for it throughout the day you will still have consumed 1800kcal. This could even be through 6 meals later on in the day or even just 2.
Whilst in many cases and circumstances it can be very beneficial to eat every 3 hours, or to have 4/5 meals a day or even to skip breakfast and eat within a set time frame. In most cases it simply doesn’t matter. If your lifestyle allows you to eat 4 meals a day then go for it. If you are strapped for time, which most people are in some form, eating when you can is perfectly fine providing you hit your daily calorie intake goal. The trick is to find the method that suits you. Be consistent and focus on what you’re eating rather than when.
It can be said however, that eating straight after your workout, predominantly protein and carbohydrates, will replenish your bodies energy levels after depleting them whilst exercising. If this happens to be breakfast then so be it, but as mentioned before its completely lifestyle dependant.
